Enhancing Your Pool Purchase

vanquishWhen buying a pool there are many questions that you must answer before making your final decision. One question that you should answer is what type of circulation and cleaning system will you install in your backyard oasis. In our first entry in our “Enhancing Your Pool Purchase” blog series we will give you information on the Vanquish in-floor circulation and cleaning system to see if this might be the right fit for you and your pool.

How the Vanquish in-floor circulation and cleaning system works:

  1. Warm, clean water is pumped through the six port water valve and is distributed to all areas of the pool
  2. Your pool is divided into separate cleaning zones, which are turned on and off by the six port water valve
  3. Each zone has a system of rotating cleaning pop-up jets placed in the floors and down jets placed in the walls. One by one the six port water valve delivers filtered water to each zone of the pool
  4. They work together to clean your pool by sweeping debris to the pool’s main drain and skimmer area.

While the Vanquish in floor circulation and cleaning system is cleaning your pool it is also circulating water. This system is better than a traditional pool system because it circulates the water evenly throughout every square inch of your pool instead of just circulating the water on top.

Circulation benefits:

  1. Because the Vanquish system circulates water through every square inch of your pool, there are no dead zones where algae can grow
  2. Less chemicals are needed
  3. Eliminates cold spots for a more comfortable swimming experience
  4. Saves on energy costs for the life of the pool
  5. Better for the environment: the chemicals are better circulated, thus less are lost into the atmosphere

Cleaning benefits:

  1. Non-contact cleaning, extends the life of a vinyl liner
  2. Cleans while you relax and have fun
  3. Once done cleaning, it disappears back into the pool floor, no clean up or storage of equipment
  4. The system leaves your pool swim ready

The Vanquish system is built to last and comes with a lifetime limited warranty on all cleaning jets within the system.

If you would like to enjoy your pool instead of taking time to clean it, then the Vanquish in-floor circulation and cleaning system may be the right fit for you. Call us today for more information or to meet with a sales representative (315) 458-8800.

Pool Shopping: What Comes With This Pool Price and What Does That Mean For My Pool

tarsons-102
May is the perfect month to purchase a pool; you get to take advantage of preseason discounts, receive a better spot on the install list and your pool will be ready the first day of summer. There are a lot of questions to ask before purchasing your pool. When it comes to comparison-shopping, be sure you’re comparing apples to apples. We here at Tarson Pools are proud to offer long-lasting, well-made pools at competitive prices. Here are some questions you want to ask about “building” your pool and how it will affect the cost.

1. How will my pool be supported?
Each pool is built with structural supports to help sustain its shape and function. The more structural supports there are, the better the pool will be able to uphold against aging and wear. Some pool companies place these structural supports every 6-8 feet. We place them every 4 feet to ensure your pool lasts as long as possible.

2. How is the frame of my pool constructed?
Behind your pool’s liner is the frame of the pool. This frame determines shape and strength. Depending on the type of pool you choose, the frame may be molded as it is built. On all of the pools we build, the frame is created as one steel piece. Not only does this create a more sustainable structure, but it also makes it easier to install or replace your liner. Molded frames are difficult to cover with a liner since they are uneven. That can increase the service time on your pool and end up costing you more money.

3. Is the type of edging used on a pool important?
Notice the white edging of the pool pictured above. All the pools we install are made with an aluminum edging due to its stability and resistance to damage. Plastic edges can crack or wear with the elements, so you can save yourself future repairs by choosing the more sustainable metal option.

4. Are there differences in stairs?
Covering pool stairs with the liner saves the builder time and cuts costs. This is an unwise practice due to the constant use of the stairs. All of that up and down motion can tear your liner and lead to you having to replace it. This is especially true if your dogs like to swim in your pool. Also, on warmer days the growth of algae in your pool increases. Stairs covered with pool liners will become more slippery. This can result in someone slipping and hurting themselves. We take the time to place in a separate staircase that has a slip guard to avoid both of these problems.

5. When will the concrete go in once my pool is installed?
If you choose an inground pool, it will need to be surrounded with concrete upon completion. For the sake of time, the installer may place the concrete as they finish up the install. It is strongly recommended you wait up to two weeks before adding the concrete to allow the ground to settle. Although it requires the installer to come back after the pool is installed, we make it a priority to be certain everything is done to create the highest form of sustainability for our customers.

There are many details involved when purchasing a pool, but it’s not just about look and price. You need to know what your pool price includes and that it is built with the best materials to help you avoid unnecessary repairs. We have been installing pools for over 50 years and make it our mission to build your pool with the best materials possible so you can swim happy longer. Spring install is still going on, so check us out online at tarsonpools.com or call your neighborhood store today for more details!

Water Safety Tips

May is National Water Safety Month.

As a pool or spa owner it is extremely important to understand know how to keep  those using your pool or spa safe so everyone can enjoy a fun experience.

Drowning and injuries are very avoidable when safety rules are followed. Simple steps save lives.

The CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) suggests creating a pool/spa safety kit that includes these basics:

POOL/ SPA SAFETY KIT:

  • A first aid kit
  • A pair of scissors that can be used to cut pool covers, clothing and other apparel if needed.
  • A charged telephone to call 911
  • A floatation device

These simple steps can save lives:

1. Supervision: Always watch your children in the pool. Children no matter their skill level should only swim when accompanied and supervised by an adult.

2. Fencing: A fence that is at least 4 -5  foot tall completely surrounding the pool is ideal. The fence should not be easy to climb and should contain self-latching locks. If your home serves as one side of the pool fence you should also consider window and door alarms.

3. Safety Covers: Covers are an extremely important part of pool/ spa safety. Spas should be covered and locked when not in use. Pools that are covered when not in use offer an added level of security. Children should be encouraged to stay away from both pools and spas with out adult supervision.  Most pool covers are designed to carry the weight of a small child. Safety covers should not be used alone using all safety steps is ideal for a fun pool or spa experience.

4. Alarm: Install alarms  in your pool and spas as well as access points. These alarms will notify you that someone is in the pool/spa or in the pool area.

5. Drain Covers: While they may not top your list on the pool and spas safety list ensuring your pool is using proper drainage covers can eliminate the risk of entrapment. Be sure that your pool and spa is using the proper drain covers and they are correctly installed by professionals.

6. Learn to Swim: It may sound too obvious but being able to swim as well as teaching your children to swim plays an important role in pool and spa safety. Did you know swimming is the only sport that can save a life, and lessons are available to people of all ages and skill levels.

7. Learn CPR: Knowing the basics of CPR can save lives. Should any of the earlier steps of safety fail knowing CPR is a crucial skill for pool owners. You may never need to use it but keeping up to date on your CPR skills can save lives and maximize your pool/spa safety.
